The body of the Local Police of Orihuela was founded 1890. It is an armed unit with civil functions that look after all the tasks in accordance with the basic law on security forces in Spain. The local police is making a 24-hour service and is always in the urban area ready to respond immediately when it comes to conflicts or emergencies.

The internal organization of the local police is done by the local police headquarters, located in C/ Policía Monserrate Salinas s/n, in Orihuela.
The body of the local police is comprised of 150 police officers on duty, 16 officials, 5 inspectors and a
quartermaster-general.
